statement of faith

Secondary Title

Our Statement of Faith is what we believe the Bible teaches; the doctrine we believe in.

Titus 2:1 “teach what accords with sound doctrine.”

1. In the verbal inspiration and in-errancy of the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments.

  • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is breathed out (inspired) by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
  • 2 Peter 1:20-21 “Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

2. Our God is a trinity in unity, manifested in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

  • Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
  • 2 Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

3. In the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

  • Luke 1:26-35.
  • John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
  • Acts 10:38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
  • Luke 23-24.
  • Acts 1:6-11, Revelation 19:11-21, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.

4. That regeneration (the new birth) by the Holy Spirit for the salvation of lost and sinful mankind, through personal faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, is absolutely essential.

  • Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God.”
  • Titus 3:4-5 “But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit...”

5. In a life of holiness, without which no man can see the Lord, through sanctification as a definite yet progressive work of grace.

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:23 “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
  • 1 Corinthians 6:11 “And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

6. In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, received subsequent to the new birth, with speaking in tongues, as the Spirit gives the utterance.

  • Acts 2:1-4.
  • John 14:16-17 “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.”

7. In water baptism by immersion for believers only, which is a direct commandment of our Lord, in the name of the Father, and of the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) , and of the Holy Spirit.

  • Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
  • Acts 2:38 “And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.' ”

8. That divine healing is provided for in the atonement and is available to all who truly believe.

  • Isaiah 53:4-5 “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
  • James 5:14-15 “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins he will be forgiven.”

9. In the pre-millennial second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ; first, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to meet Him in the air (the Rapture) and second, to reign on the earth for a thousand years.

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 “Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.”
  • Revelation 20:1-7.

10. In the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

  • Matthew 25:46 “And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
  • Mark 9:43-48.
  • Revelation 20:11-15.
  • Revelation 21.
